The best ever compact digital camera?

While we weren’t exactly blown away by Sony’s line up for 2004, the Japanese giant did display one absolute peach of a product and promised a UK launch for a device that was absent from CES.

Sony’s killer gadget for 2004 is the DSC-T1 digital camera. Due to arrive in the UK next month the camera will blow all its opposition, including the Casio Exilim and Pentax Optio S right out of the water.

From the front it looks like a good quality, neatly styled capacity digital camera. Peek under the hood and you’ll discover it is capable of capturing five-mega pixel image and has a 3x optical and 6x digital zoom. The clincher though is when you peer round the back, for the T1 one boasts an absolutely stunning 2.5 inch LCD which is the best viewfinder/monitor we have ever seen on a small digital snapper. We can't yet vouch for the pictures it takes, but the buzz at CES was that its snaps were superior to its rival compact cameras. We will be shelling out the £400 the moment it hits UK shores.

In spite of rumours to the contrary it appears that Sony is still intending to bring its Giga Pocket PCVA-HVP20, personal video player to the UK. The device, which launched in Japan in November, pairs video playing software with a 20Gigabyte hard disk. This enables users to store video footage transferred from a Vaio PC, which they can review, on the device’s 3.5inch LCD screen.
