Google gets everywhere

google_logo.gif In the run up to its initial public offering, which will see the company floated for over £8 billion later this year, search engine giant Google seems to be getting even more press attention than ever before.

Unbelievably, yesterday's London Evening Standard - a paper that is notoriously technophobic - ran with Google's gmail announcement on its front page (a free e-mail service to rival Hotmaill that offers 1Gb of storage, in case you haven't heard).

Another announcement that seems to be attracting plenty of attention is that Google is developing a new mobile phone version of its search engine which allow users to bid for goods and services via their mobile phones. eBay beware.
