PSP problems
Dead pixels in the LCD display, short battery life and UMD discs that randomly pop out when the unit's twisted. These are just a few of the gripes owners of Sony's new PSP handheld console have been moaning about online.
The latest glitch is that almost 5,000 PSPs have had to be returned already due to a faulty button. The square control button is placed extremely close to the edge of the large screen, and Sony's designers appear to have been unwilling to either move the button or shrink the screen. The result? The control switch inside the PSP isn't actually directly under the button, which has meant a "sticky" or stuck button for some users. Surprisingly Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Ken Kutaragi responded aggressively to The Nikkei Journal over this fault saying: "It wasn't a mistake. There may be people who complain about it, but that's something users and game developers will have to adapt to."

srry to say, kids, but in the PSP rules... DS is ok... i'm getting one when the DS LITE comes out, but still... I got a PSP for my b-day, & it's totally kickass... It has better graphics, more mature games, music, video, pictures, internet... Dare I go on? so what if it has a glitch here or there... Don't forget that so does DS... Nothing's perfect... & it costs more because Sony has to pay to get the better processor & graphics driver & shit for it... The mem stick is a pain, but it still kicks ass compared to DS... DS only has more games, but the overall gameplay is gay... I played it at my friends & it sucked... I have to pay attention to 2 screens at once, hold it up with one hand (believe me, once the DS is open, all the weight goes to the top portion of the system & it's a PAIN!), & use the other hand to touch the easily scratched touch screen... it's a total pain in the ass... plus my friend already lost like 4 stylus' & he has to keep buying more & more cuz they're easy to lose... Oh... & to Nintendofanatic, PSP is superior... DS is more like a brick...

As for actual games the DS has a better library. PSP just puts out horrible ports of better console version games. DS has way better creative design with better possibilities for games. The only thing my psp is good for is a portable emulator. I use that for playing some good ol' NES, SNES games.

The Ds will crush the psp.I'm saying this is the former owner of the psp.
The Ds has better games, great graphics, a touch screen, a microphone, internet capabilities, free text messaging, fantastic games and MPEG 3+4 capabilities.
These things have never incorporated in gaming before and deliver an experience which is truly unique. For the psp to even stand a chance the problems nedd to be fixed. The fact that they continued to release it when they knew about these problems is plain idiotic.
People keep saying that the psp has better graphics, so what. If everyone thought that then everyone would be using a gaming Pc because they have better graphics then consoles ever will. Luckily, people remember that the games are the important part of a system. Meaning the Ds will prosper.
The Psp has hardly any good games for it which have not been released on another console before. So why bother. The battery life is crap. This is because the games are so graphically intensive and the psp has an overpowering and inefficient CPU. Why? Because the Psp was hashed up as soon as they heard of Ninty's plans. The movie player option is crap to. The play time is limited, due to battery life. The picture and sound quality is compressed by an excesive amount. And finnaly, Sony are asking you to pay more than a DVd to watch it on a smaller screen, along with all of the previous comments mentioned.
There are thousands of Psp related problems around the web. Yet there are no real Ds problems. People moan about what the Ds can't do, but there are no problems with what it can do.
What idiot said the Gameboy is dead? The game boy is the most successful handheld to ever be released. You will realise after you see the GBA evolution in May. It will make the Psp obselete. ds sales wont be affected at all. Why? Because the Ds is a completely different piece of kit, designed to deliver a unique gaming experience.
Whoever said all of the Ds games suck can shut up. Most of the games rule. Some of them are bad but any console release has thier share of crap games. Of course all of them use the touch screen, it would be stupid if they didn't and the games would lack any real charm. As soon as Nintendo's next wave of games are released psp sales will fall to the likes of Goldeneye, Zelda ,Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Resident evil, Metroid, Kirby, Pac Man, Need for speed, Donkey Kong, Lylat wars, Advance Wars and Animal Crossing. All of these are unique titles which anyone will enjoy.
Hardly any Ds have been returned, because everyone has been satisfied with what they bought. 5% of sales is a huge percentage compared to other consoles. That 5% is not including the consoles Sony didn't replace.
Many of the Psp's were not returned because Sony wouldn't take it back. The fact that it has a 3 month warranty doesn't shout 'confidence' from the rooftops does it. So why risk it?
Many of you will realise when your console breaks. Don't expect it to last long, after all it only has a 3 month warranty!

I don't give a mad f@ck what any of you think, when GTA comes out for the PSP next months it's gonna bury the ds for good!!!!

The only reason so many people like PSP more than DS is because PSP costs $100 more (o_O) and because of this, many people assume the PSP is better. There's something I learned a while ago: Never assume.

psp rocks. your all goobers and you think nintendo is good. psh, yea right. the psp is going to rock this world and smash the ds into peices.

freakinpissed,
It may be "minor" problems but it has too much minor problems which creates one huge problem which may indeed cause the beginning of the end for the PSP.
Phildo,
How can you say Gameboy is dead! PSP deserves to fail! Nintendo have owned the handheld mark for so many years and Sony thinks they can release a amateur console that can only rely on is technical capablities, and expect it to overpower Nintendo!
Don't think so! By the way, history is repeating itself...remember the Sega Gamegear? It was technically superior than the Gameboy in every way and yet it still failed...miserably. Thats because Nintendo did not waste their time on trying to make the Gameboy tecnically superior and instead made much more entertaining games.
Chad,
What the hell are you talking about! At the moment the Nintendo DS has more third party support than PSP! Don't lie to try and bash the DS! Its very n00bish!
Nintendofanatic,
Think again. The PSP hasn't sold half as much as the DS and PSP owners have already returned 5000 consoles.
Jay Cook,
Yes I agree. At the moment some of the games suck. But these are just the launch titles...remember the GBA's launch titles? They all sucked also and look how sucessful that became!
